China Successfully Launched Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Satellite

MEMS-Gyroscope

Beijing, April 16 – at 2:16 on April 16, China launched the atmospheric environment monitoring satellite with the Long March 4 c-28 carrier rocket at the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The satellite will promote remote sensing applications in China’s ecological environment, meteorology, agriculture and rural areas, which is of great significance to improve the comprehensive application efficiency of satellite resources and promote environmental protection.

Atmospheric environment monitoring satellite is a scientific research satellite in the medium and long term development plan of national civil space infrastructure (2015-2025). It operates in the sun synchronous orbit and is mainly equipped with payloads such as atmospheric detection lidar, high-precision polarization scanner, multi angle polarization imager, ultraviolet hyperspectral atmospheric composition detector, wide-band imaging spectrometer, etc. Using active laser, hyperspectral, multispectral, high-precision polarization and other means of comprehensive observation, the satellite can realize the comprehensive monitoring of atmospheric fine particles, pollution gases, greenhouse gases, clouds and aerosols, land surface, water and other environmental factors in a wide range, continuously, dynamically and all day. After the satellite goes into orbit, it will further improve the application capabilities of China’s comprehensive atmospheric environment monitoring, global climate change, crop yield estimation and agricultural disasters, promote the application of satellite remote sensing data in ecological environment, meteorology, agriculture and rural areas, and effectively solve the dependence of various industries and departments on foreign remote sensing data.

The National Space Administration is responsible for the organization and management of the satellite project, the organization and coordination of major issues and the approval of launch permits. The Ministry of ecological environment (LED), the China Meteorological Administration, the Ministry of agriculture and rural areas and other user departments are responsible for the construction and operation of the application system according to the division of labor. The China Resources Satellite Application Center and the Aerospace Information Innovation Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of sciences are responsible for the construction and operation of the ground system, Shanghai Aerospace Technology Research Institute of Aerospace Science and technology group is responsible for the overall development of satellite system and carrier system, and China satellite launch measurement and control system department is responsible for the organization and implementation of launch site and measurement and control system.

This mission is the 416th launch of the long march series of launch vehicles.
