Harbin Engineering University’s “AUV Key Technology Research Project Team” has completed the third stage of deep sea test and returned to its home port in Qingdao.During the deep-sea scientific expedition in the Western Pacific Ocean organized by the National Deep Sea Base Management Center, the WuKong AUV made a 5,000-meter and 7,000-meter deep dives, reaching a maximum depth of 7,709 meters, setting a new record for China’s unmanned and unanchored submersible AUV (the previous record was 5,213 meters).This is also the second deepest AUV in the world after the Russian Warrior D AUV.
